SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.—The Salvation Army of San Bernardino County will honor Rachel Weiss, Ph.D., with an award for her exceptional service and dedication to supporting the organization’s mission in San Bernardino County at The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Kickoff on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Bear Springs Hotel Event Center in Highland. Tickets are available at bit.ly/4med2qT.

Dr. Weiss, the Dean of Grant Development & Administration at Riverside Community College, has served as a longstanding advisory board member since 2020.

“Her remarkable efforts have significantly contributed to the success of The Salvation Army’s initiatives, particularly in securing vital funding through successful grants from the San Manuel Tribe of Mission Indians and regional municipal governments,” said Major Adam Morales, Commander of the San Bernardino Citadel.

Dr. Weiss’s ongoing work includes assisting with major gift requests to support the capital campaign for a new, consolidated campus that will serve as the central hub for all Salvation Army operations and services for the cities of Bloomington, Colton, Grand Terrace, Highland, Loma Linda, Mentone, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Yucaipa, as well as Big Bear, Blue Jay, Crestline, Lake Arrowhead and other mountain communities.

Beyond her support for the Salvation Army, Rachel’s civic engagement includes serving on the executive board of Arrowhead United Way, being a member of the San Bernardino Capacity Building Consortium and volunteering with the Redlands Humane Society and FIP Warriors.

“Rachel’s outstanding service exemplifies her commitment to our community and the mission of The Salvation Army,” said Advisory Board Chair Cindy Amrine.
